A week with Chloé

Monday, the market hall is closed, no alarm.

Ce dîner chez tes amis samedi, alors ? That dinner at your friends' on Saturday, so?

Je veux les détails. I want the details.

Voice note, 0:23

Quick voice note from the Corbas market, five o'clock.

Les renoncules sont magnifiques. Tu dors, je parie. The ranunculus are gorgeous. You're asleep, I bet.

Ton premier cours de poterie, c'était comment ? Your first pottery class, how was it?

You wrote

She loved them, of course.

Quelles fleurs tu as choisies ? Which flowers did you choose?

Je juge en tant que professionnelle. I'm judging as a professional.

Cette semaine, quatre jours. This week, four days.

Ton passé composé tient debout. Your passé composé holds up.

Ensuite, l'accord du participe. Personne n'aime ça. Next, past participle agreement. Nobody likes it.

Every Sunday, a letter.

La tua settimana

7 to 13 September · B1, since 24 August

An example from a week of Italian, not a real learner's week

At your level

The same message from Chloé, written for three levels.

Je me lève à quatre heures. Je vais au marché aux fleurs. J'achète des roses et des tulipes. Tu te lèves tôt, toi ?

I get up at four. I go to the flower market. I buy roses and tulips. Do you get up early?

This morning I was at the Corbas market at five, like every Tuesday. It was cold, but I found some really beautiful peonies for the stand. Are you more of a morning or an evening person?

This morning in Corbas I had to haggle over my peonies with a wholesaler who had clearly decided that Tuesday was a sale day in reverse. I won in the end, but it took me two coffees to get over it. Are you any good at haggling?

Questions.

Are the companions real people?

No. Every companion is an AI and says so in its first message. They have consistent lives, opinions and moods, and they remember what you tell them, but they are not people.

Does this replace my app or my tutor?

No. It adds a daily conversation beside them. Keep them.

What level do I need?

You can already hold a simple conversation in the language, roughly A2 and up. Companions shorten their sentences to match you. Complete beginners: not yet.

How do corrections work?

Inside the conversation, the way a friend would rephrase what you said. At most two patterns a week are raised, and Sunday's letter summarises them.

What is in the Sunday letter?

Days you talked, minutes, new words, words that came back, sentence length, your level, and the two patterns to work on. One letter per language, plus a PDF.

Why Telegram?

It is already on your phone and your desktop, voice notes work well, and there is nothing new to install.

Do I have to write every day?

No. You choose when a companion may write, and you answer when you can. Quiet weeks are allowed.

Can I talk instead of type?

Yes. Voice notes both ways.

Who reads my messages, and can I delete them?

Your messages build a companion's memory of you, nothing else. From one settings page you can download what your companions know, make them forget, or delete everything.

How much, and how do I cancel?

14 euro a month or 99 euro a year, VAT included, after a free week with no card. Pause for two or four weeks, or cancel, from one screen. No email, no call.

Other languages?

Italian, German, Spanish, English and French. Missing yours? Tell us which language you'd like to practice when you start your free week, and we write to you the day it opens.

Can I have two companions?

Yes, in one language or in several. One subscription covers every companion in every language, and each companion has its own settings.

It's still in there.
