A week with Marco

Lunedì di riposo, ginocchia sul divano. Rest day Monday, knees on the sofa.

Ieri la tua prima corsa al parco? Yesterday, your first run in the park?

Com'è andata? How did it go?

Voice note, 0:31

The client wanted a terrace on a load-bearing wall.

Gliel'ho spiegato con calma. I explained it to him calmly.

Com'è andata la riunione di ieri? How did yesterday's meeting go?

Ti capisco. Your legs hurt? I get it.

After my long run along the Po I walk like a penguin.

Per due giorni. For two days.

Settimana buona: cinque giorni. A good week: five days.

La gita in montagna, tutta al passato. The mountain trip, all in the past tense.

Prossimo allenamento: le preposizioni articolate. Next training: articulated prepositions.

Every Sunday, a letter.

La tua settimana

7 to 13 September · B1, since 24 August

An example from a week of Italian, not a real learner's week

At your level

The same message from Marco, written for three levels.

Domenica corro lungo il Po. Corro per due ore. Dopo mangio tanto. Tu fai sport?

On Sunday I run along the Po. I run for two hours. Afterwards I eat a lot. Do you do any sport?

On Sunday I did my usual long run along the Po, twenty-two kilometres under an annoying drizzle. My knees complain, I don't. Do you do any sport?

On Sunday the long run along the Po went better than expected: twenty-two kilometres at a decent pace, despite a drizzle that seemed made to discourage me. My knees only protested on the last stretch. How do you keep laziness at bay?

Questions.

Are the companions real people?

No. Every companion is an AI and says so in its first message. They have consistent lives, opinions and moods, and they remember what you tell them, but they are not people.

Does this replace my app or my tutor?

No. It adds a daily conversation beside them. Keep them.

What level do I need?

You can already hold a simple conversation in the language, roughly A2 and up. Companions shorten their sentences to match you. Complete beginners: not yet.

How do corrections work?

Inside the conversation, the way a friend would rephrase what you said. At most two patterns a week are raised, and Sunday's letter summarises them.

What is in the Sunday letter?

Days you talked, minutes, new words, words that came back, sentence length, your level, and the two patterns to work on. One letter per language, plus a PDF.

Why Telegram?

It is already on your phone and your desktop, voice notes work well, and there is nothing new to install.

Do I have to write every day?

No. You choose when a companion may write, and you answer when you can. Quiet weeks are allowed.

Can I talk instead of type?

Yes. Voice notes both ways.

Who reads my messages, and can I delete them?

Your messages build a companion's memory of you, nothing else. From one settings page you can download what your companions know, make them forget, or delete everything.

How much, and how do I cancel?

14 euro a month or 99 euro a year, VAT included, after a free week with no card. Pause for two or four weeks, or cancel, from one screen. No email, no call.

Other languages?

Italian, German, Spanish, English and French. Missing yours? Tell us which language you'd like to practice when you start your free week, and we write to you the day it opens.

Can I have two companions?

Yes, in one language or in several. One subscription covers every companion in every language, and each companion has its own settings.

It's still in there.
